York St John 1st vs. York 2nd

March 17th, 2010

A disappointing Varcity game saw a misfiring York side blow their promotion dreams out of the water. A good season but second best doesn’t half reflect the potential of this team. Two lax twenty minute periods resulted in York St John’s build an unassailable 20-3 lead with just over twenty minutes reaming. Final result 23:13.

Sunderland 1st vs. York 2nd

March 14th, 2010

Sunderland give York the walk-over and these three points see York move to the top of their league (Northern Conference 3B).

Sheffield Hallam 3rds vs. York 2nd

March 10th, 2010

A good victory from a tired team still carrying various bumps and bruises from their encounter two days before against Sheffield Hallam 2nd XV. The final score of 66-5 didn’t fully reflect York’s dominance but good tries came from both props CRM and Wissen, as well as one from Wood and Bummer. Felgate scored two and T-bag picked up another hat-rick. Morty kicked 8 of the 10 conversions to see York win 66-5.

Sheffield Hallam 2nd vs. York 2nd

March 8th, 2010

A monumental effort saw the Bumblebees hold out for the win despite spending twenty minutes with just 14 men. A first half lead of 14-0 was cut down to 17-15 in a game to remember where both sides gave it all in this very bruising and physical encounter.

University of York 1st XV v Birmingham 1st XV

March 7th, 2010

Huddersfield 1st vs. York 2nd

March 3rd, 2010

Rishi put in a superb performance in what was a scrappy game ridden with injuries and astonishing decisions by the referee. York got the result though winning 40 points to 3 – yet in a tight league the 2nds were looking for a better points difference from this game.

Report given to you by Philip Johnson, 2nd XV match reporter.
